Activity: Buzz

Activity Type:
Amusement.

Time:
10-20 minutes.

Group size:
3-20.

Materials:
None!

Goal:
This activity is meant to amuse and entertain. It is a great game for playing in the car or on the trail.

Instructions:
This is a counting game that can be adjusted to the participants level. Feel free to be creative and adjust the game to keep it fun and interesting. Participants begin by counting in turn. Participants count to a number that is one more than the number of participants (i.e. if there are 10 participants count to 11). When the number seven comes up the participant must say BUZZ or he is "out". For example, the participants are counting one, two, three, four, five, six, BUZZ, eight, nine. The last person left is the winner. Older participants can use the number seven and multiples of seven. The game can be made more challenging by substituting words for other numbers. Say TOOT in place of two. Say HONK in place of five or multiples of five. Additionally, encourage participants to count fast and to speed up if it is too easy.

Potential Lesson:

This would be a great introduction to having a discussion about rushing through life. The faster we go and the more we try to do in a hurry, the more likely we are to stumble. We must keep balance in life and not rush too much or try to hurry God's plan. We ought to be mindful to enjoy where we are in life now and not continually focus on the future or getting older.
